Fatty Thighs to Give Breasts Uplift
Fatty Thighs to Give Breasts Uplift
SARAH-KATE TEMPLETON, HEALTH CORRESPONDENT - SUNDAY TIMES UK

Surgeons are close to developing the ultimate cosmetic treatment to sculpt the female body. They have successfully carried out "natural" breast enlargements where unwanted fat from women's hips and thighs is transplanted on to their busts.

The procedure allows surgeons to redistribute fat around women's bodies, sculpting their figures into an ideal shape. The operations have been carried out on dozens of women in America and British clinics are planning to offer the technique.

Sydney Coleman, a world-renowned plastic surgeon from New York, has performed about 30 breast augmentations using women's own fat. "I recently operated on a mother and daughter who both had big love handles. It was easy just to remove it and place it on the chest," Coleman said.

If the procedure is perfected it could end the need for silicon implants, which have to be replaced every 10 years. Scarring can occur around the implant causing infections, and many women are reluctant to have artificial materials introduced into their bodies.

Thomas Baker, a professor of plastic surgery at Miami University's medical school, has performed 28 augmentations using women's own fat over the past two years. "The breasts look normal and feel normal. They are not like breast implants that can become very hard," he said.

Baker believes the technique is ideal for women wanting a modest breast enlargement of about one to one and a half cup sizes because a smaller volume of fat is needed. The Harley Medical Group is planning to offer the procedure. Mel Braham, its chairman, said: "Once scientific clinical trials have taken place and they are peer-reviewed in established medical publications, then this is something that would be of great interest."

Lola Collazo, 28, a medical administrator from Miami, had her breasts increased from a size 36A to a size 36B using fat from her thigh.

I'm afriad I'm simply not fat enough for this procedure. THat's something a lot of people overlook when talking about this, because if you haven't got the fat to spare it's just not going to happen. I've got little to none.

Do you have post-surgery pics of African American women...I would hate to have scarring...want to retain the natural look.

Since the fat is introduced by injections it would appear safe to say that there wouldn't be any scarring as such. However, if you're afraid of needles, be aware that the needles used for this kind of procedure tend to be as big as knitting needles.

Yes, but it only works well on those who have plenty of body fat to redistribute. I think for a lot of women this is irrelevant and simply isn't an option for them. I'm not saying it isn't a good idea as for some women it would be great, but many of us simply haven't got the spare body fat that a surgeon can move around.

Breast job rids body of extra fat
Double benefit: breast job rids body of extra fat

London (Daily Express): Here’s some news that will bring double joy to women: a “two-in-one” boob job technique that uses unwanted fat from other parts of the body has been developed. The breast enlargement operation takes excess fat from the thighs and stomach and moves it to the bust. The pioneering technique has been tested in Britain and the US, and is expected to be offered to British women by early next year. And it is believed that the effects are “astounding”, resulting in larger breasts that look and feel just like normal as no implant has been introduced into the body.

Experts have predicted that the procedure, which might cost around £8,000, will eventually overtake implants to dominate the cosmetic surgery market. According to the Harley Medical Group, the technique has originated from reconstructive surgery and was tested in Britain after a 10-year study on global developments in fat grafting. They said that the results experienced by patients in the US and UK, who had the procedure four or five years ago, have shown that the effects are lasting.

The reports on this get more and more positive but I'm still not convinced by the fat transfer idea, because fat transfer can be very unpredictable. More and more surgeries are offering this though, so it will be interesting to see how it develops. You need every injection to work out perfectly, but maybe that can be done now.

I don't think I would do this at the moment as there is a lot of conflicting information on this subject. Even though it's becoming common, I still see a lot of negative remarks being made about this procedure.

I don't see how, since it can only be appropriate for those women who have excess fat in the first place.
